Santuario Nacional del Inmaculado Corazón de María - Panamá
National Shrine of the Immaculate Heart of Mary - Panama City, Panama.

The Claretian Missionaries of Panama, under the leadership of Bishop Jesus Serrano and P. Manuel Prada, began the construction of the National Shrine on August 22, 1947 when the first stone was laid by Francisco Beckmann CM, Archbishop of Panama. Two years of hard work were needed to complete the work.

The construction was done by the engineers, Emanuel Lyons, Giuseppe Josi and
Henrique Arango, on land donated by General Nicanor de Obarrio.

The National Shrine's facade is adorned with a statue that perpetuates the solemn moment when Pope Pius XII crowned the Virgin Mary as Queen of the World, with the consecration of the world to the Heart of Mary on three different ocassions during the World War:

• December 8, 1942
• First Sunday of May, 1943
